Bridgeport Police Make Arrest in 2007 Homicide

Bridgeport police arrested a man on Friday in connection with a 2007 cold case homicide in the Charles F. Greene Homes housing complex.

Members of the U.S. Marshals fugitive task force arrested Nirone Hutton, 29, on charges of murder, criminal possession of a firearm by a felon and carrying a pistol without a permit.

On Feb. 27, 2007, Juan Marcano, was shot twice in the back and died in April 2007 from complications from the shooting, police said.

The day after the shooting, the U.S. Marshals task force recovered a handgun from an apartment in the same complex while serving an unrelated felony arrest warrant.

During the autopsy, two slugs were recovered and ballistic analysis linked the slugs to the weapon police had seized, according to a news release from police.

Hutton’s name surfaced as a possible suspect early in the investigation, according to Detective Heitor Teixeira.

Investigators believe that Marcano was lured into a building in the project, got into a physical altercation and was shot in the back.

In July 2013, detectives developed more information implicating Hutton as the shooter and were then able to secure an arrest warrant, police said.

His bond was set at $750,000.
