Police Nab Suspected Steak and Seafood Thief

West Haven Police have arrested a man suspected of stealing expensive seafood and steaks and said he might also be wanted in several other towns.

Dino Francis, 52, of East Haven, was arrested on Nov. 4 and charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and sixth-degree larceny.

Police identified him last week, released surveillance photos, and said he is suspected of stealing food and "expensive seafood" from Stowe's Seafood on Beach Street and Savin Rock Roasting Company on Captain Thomas Boulevard in West Haven.

Joseph Collier, owner of Savin Rock Roasting Company, said food was stolen from his cooler.

“Stole steaks, pork chops, hamburger, chicken breast. Quite honestly I feel sorry for him and I hope he gets the help he needs,” Collier said. “It’s kind of an odd theft because of the items that he did take. They’re very perishable. They have to be dealt with within hours, or kept in refrigeration, so it didn’t make much sense to me.”

Police said Francis, a painter, is accused of committing several burglaries in West Haven and added that he might also be wanted in similar incidents in surrounding towns.

Francis was arraigned yesterday and bond was set at $100,000.
