CSP Holiday Enforcement: 2 Fatal Crashes, Thousands of Violations

State police have responded to two fatal crashes, issued thousands of tickets and made 46 DUI arrests so far this holiday weekend.

State police holiday enforcement began at midnight on Wednesday, Nov. 22 and runs through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26. Troopers conducted increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints are set up throughout the state during this period.

As of 8 a.m. Sunday morning, Connecticut State police have responded to 428 accidents, two of which were fatal, and 61 with injuries.

One fatal crash occurred in Killingly, the other in Cromwell.

Troopers have arrested 46 people on DUI charges, issued 866 speeding tickets, 180 seatbelt violations, and issued citations for 2042 other moving violations.

In 2016, State Police made a total of 51 DUI arrests, issued 896 speeding violations, 311 seatbelt violations, and 2503 other violations over the Thanksgiving holiday period. There were 392 accidents, one of which was fatal.
