CT Volunteers Help Frozen Northeast

The Northwest Hills suffered the brunt of last week’s storm in Connecticut but nearby states to the north were hit worse. Local volunteers are heading out Monday to help.

Red Cross volunteers and staff from Connecticut will lend help to overwhelmed shelter and relief operations.

More than half a million people in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont have no power.

President George W. Bush issued a state of emergency for Massachusetts and New Hampshire, according to the Federal Emergency Management Association Web site.

It could be Thursday or Friday before power is restored to all.
