    Police Identify University of Connecticut Student Killed in Mansfield

    Connecticut state police have identified the University of Connecticut student who was killed in a crash in Mansfield on Thursday night.

    A 21-year-old University of Connecticut student is dead after a head-on crash involving a bus in Mansfield Thursday night.

    State police said 21-year-old Thomas Paul Leahy, of Tolland, was driving a 2007 Toyota RAV4 and crossed the double yellow line on Route 195 in Mansfield around 8:45 p.m. Thursday and hit a bus.

    Leahy was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to fire officials.

    UConn officials said Leahy was a student who was on track to graduate in 2020. They said they will be reaching out to his friends on campus and others they know had connections with him and offer assistance and counseling.

    A 21-year-old Tolland man was killed in a crash in Mansfield on Thursday night and officials from the University of Connecticut said he was a UConn student.

    The Windham Regional Transit District said one of their buses was involved and that their driver did not report any injuries but was taken to the hospital as a precaution. There were no passengers on the bus.
