1 Dead, 1 Hospitalized After Carbon Monoxide Incident in Southington

Police and firefighters responded to the scene.

A man is dead from apparent carbon monoxide poisoning and a woman has been taken to the hospital.

Police responded to Copper Ridge in Southington after getting a 911 call at 1:50 p.m.

The woman who placed the call for help stated that she found her husband unconscious in the basement, where power equipment and generators are stored, according to police. He was not breathing when rescue crews arrived.  

Rescue crews also found a woman in the basement who was unconscious.  She was flown by Lifestar to a Rhode Island hospital for treatment and has since been released. 

Police have not said if she is the same person who called 911.

The home is owned by Gordon Rowe, according to neighbors and property records.  Rowe was divorced a couple of years ago and now lives in the home with his girlfriend and a female roommate, according to neighbors.

Police have not released names of the victims.
