Case Continued for Accused Wesleyan Shooter

Nothing new will happen in the case of a Massachusetts man accused of the brutal shooting death of a 21-year-old Wesleyan University student last May.

His case has been continued until Oct. 20 in Superior Court, the Hartford Courant reports.

Stephen Morgan, 29, of Marblehead, was in Superior Court in Middletown Wednesday morning for a pre-trial hearing.

His lawyer told the judge during the hearing that he wanted access to documents relating to evidence seized in the case, the Courant reports.

Morgan was charged with the murder of Johanna Justin-Jinich on May 6 inside Red and Black Cafe inside the bookstore, where she was working when she was shot point-blank.

He went into the café in disguise, shot Justin-Jinich several times and fled, leaving his disguise behind, according to the arrest warrant.

Morgan's lawyer, Richard Brown, said test results are pending on several electronic items – including Morgan’s laptop – that state police seized during the investigation and there us a "backlog" at the lab, the Courant reports.
