Cat Crisis: Looking for a Few Good Homes

A Waterbury woman says time is running out for her cats.  Animal control officers tell Tracy Hope she has 7 days to find her 50 cats new homes, otherwise they’ll be euthanized.

“I want them to go to good homes that will give them the love and care that I can no longer give them,” said Tracy Hope.

One look inside Tracy’s apartment and you know she has a problem.  The cats are everywhere.  In fact, she’s gone through 3 other apartments and each time she’s evicted.

“I have to move because of my cats.  No one in their right mind wants you to have this many cats in one apartment, but I’m not going to live in the street,” said Hope.

She’s now begging for help, but says several different human societies and animal shelters have turned her away.

“They say we’re full.  They say we can’t take anymore.  They promise to call back and don’t,” said Hope.

Hope says she won’t let her cats die because of her mistakes.  She admits, what started as 2 cats quickly turned into this because she didn’t have the money to have them all fixed.

She hopes someone answers her cries for help, before its too late.

“It’s heartbreaking.  After all the work you’ve done, then they’re just going to take them ad kill them?  Why would they do that?” said Hope.
