One cat died in a house fire at 16 Chapin Road in Colebrook this morning.
The blaze started around 3 a.m. and five fire departments responded to put out the blaze.
There are no hydrants in the area, so a tanker had to bring water in from a mile and a half away.
The fire was even more difficult to fight because water froze in hoses due to frigid temperatures.
The homeowners managed to escape unharmed.
