Charges Dropped Against Other Uzi Death Defendants

Prosecutors in Massachusetts have dropped involuntary manslaughter charges against two men in connection with the death of a Connecticut boy who accidentally shot himself with an Uzi.

A clerk at Hampden Superior Court in Springfield, Mass. says motions to drop the charges Tuesday against Domenico Spano of New Milford and Carl Guiffre of West Hartford, the Associated Press reported.

Christopher Bizilj, 8, died in Oct. 2008 after accidentally shooting himself in the head with an Uzi submachine gun at gun fair in Westfield, Mass. Prosecutors said Spano and Giuffre brought machine guns to the event.

The decision to drop charges against the pair comes less than a week after a jury acquitted the organizer of the gun show, Edward Fleury, of involuntary manslaughter charges. Fleury, the former Police Chief in Pelham, Mass. had been accused of being reckless by allowing the 8-year-old to fire the weapon at the gun fair.
