Suspect in Custody After Officer-Involved Shooting in Cheshire

A man is in custody after a domestic disturbance led to a tense stand-off and an officer-involved shooting in Cheshire on Friday.

Police say they responded to Fairway Drive around 7:30 p.m. for a reported domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived, they say they found a 29-year-old man armed with a handgun. Police say the man refused to comply with the officers' demands and eventually barricaded himself in the residence. Anyone who was home in the residential complex at the time was told to shelter in place and stay away from windows.

During the interaction, experts say at least one officer fired their weapon and hit the man at least one time. The man suffered a non life-threatening injury and was transported to the hospital. According to police, there were no reported injuries to any Cheshire police officers.

Police say the man was taken into custody by police and is now facing charges related to the domestic disturbance.

Detectives say there is no longer a threat to the public and they are continuing to investigate the incident. The name of the man has not been released.
