A store clerk in New Haven was shot in the chest on Saturday night when two masked men entered his store and demanded money.
According to New Haven Police, officers responded to Walt’s Package Store, at 451 Columbus Ave. around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday to investigate a robbery.
When officers arrived, they discovered the store clerk, Rakeshkumar Patel, had been shot in the chest.
Patel told officers that two thin, masked men entered the store and demanded money.
The two robbers took a few dollars before one of them shot Patel, 41.
Patel was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital to undergo surgery. He is listed in critical but stable condition.
Police are still looking for the two assailants.
