Several movie theater companies have decided to cancel planned showings of "The Interview" in the wake of threats against theatergoers, and that includes 25 theaters in Connecticut.
Carmike Cinemas, which operates 247 theaters across the country, was the first theater to pull the screenings of the controversial film, according to Hollywood trade publications The Hollywood Reporter and Variety.
The Carmike Cinemas theaters in Connecticut are:
- Bloomfield Digiplex, at 863 Park Ave. in Bloomfield
- Lisbon Digiplex, at 162 River Road in Lisbon
- Torrington Digiplex Cinerom, at 89 Farley Place in Torrington
The Associated Press is reporting that Regal Cinemas, AMC and Cinemark have also pulled the movie.
There are two AMC Cinemas in Connecticut:
- AMC Loews Plainville 20, at 220 New Britain Avenue in Plainville
- AMC Loews Danbury 16, at 61 Eagle Road in Danbury
There are four Regal Cinemas in Connecticut:
- Branford Regal in Branford
- Pawcatuck Regal in Stonington
- Stratford Regal in Stratford Stadium
- Waterbury Regal
- Waterford Regal
In a statement, Regal said it was delaying any showings of "The Interview" because of "the ambiguous nature of any real or perceived security threats."

On Wednesday afternoon, Bow Tie Cinemas decided not to open the film on Christmas Day, as planned.
