A Metro-North conductor was assaulted during a dispute about a fare on a train heading from New York to New Haven on Friday morning, according to Metro-North officials.
The altercation happened at 11:15 a.m on the 10:04 a.m. train from Grand Central to New Haven, and the assailant got off the train in Westport, but is in custody.
According to Metro-North, the conductor suffered a hand injury and the suspect will be charged with assault.
The train was supposed to arrive in New Haven at 12:10 p.m., but it was taken out of service and passengers were transferred to the 10:34 a.m. train from Grand Central, which led to a 40-minute delay.
Evening rush hour is not expected to be affectedt.
