Congressional Candidate Blasts Opponent Over Ex-Gov

Lisa Wilson-Foley responds to Mike Clark with contract and statement on agreements between her family and campaign and Rowland's family.

A former FBI agent running for Congress who helped send former Gov. John G. Rowland to prison for corruption blasted an opponent, Lisa Wilson-Foley, for Rowland's role in her campaign and work with her husband's company.

On Wednesday, Wilson-Foley's campaign responded by releasing the contract to Mike Clark's campaign and said the agreement ended in March.

Clark and Wilson-Foley are Republicans running in the state's 5th Congressional District.

Clark said he would file a Federal Elections Commission complaint Wednesday demanding Lisa Wilson-Foley disclose any financial agreements between her family and campaign and Rowland's family. Clark says an alliance between Rowland and Wilson-Foley is "mind-boggling."

On Wednesday afternoon, Wilson-Foley's campaign issued a statement saying that they have provided information to Clark's campaign about the "private business arrangements, including the contract between John G. Rowland and companies affiliated with Brian Foley." Brian Foley is the husband of Wilson-Foley.

The campaign is providing the information to the three other Republican candidates as well, the campaign statement said.

Wilson-Foley's campaign spokesman said Rowland is a volunteer advisor to the campaign who had a consulting relationship with Wilson-Foley's husband's company. He says that arrangement had "absolutely nothing" to do with the campaign.

The campaign said the contract between Rowland and Brian Foley's company started on Oct. 1, 2011 and ended in March 2012.

"As one of only a few Republicans who have won statewide office over the last 40 years, John Rowland has a wealth of experience that has been a welcome addition to the campaign and will continue to be involved," The Wilson-Foley camp said. "There are no financial relationships, past or present, between Lisa Wilson Foley for Congress campaign, or companies owned by Lisa Wilson Foley."
