Connecticut Boy Drowns in Vermont Tubing Accident

Vermont State Police are investigating the death of a 10-year-old Hartford boy who died in a tubing accident Friday afternoon.

According to Vermont officials, around 1:45 pm police received a call stating a boy had drowned on the Whiter River near Stockbridge.

The boy was on a tubing trip with family members that started at a campground in Gaysville, VT. Fast moving water police said swept him down river.

Members of the tubing party attempted to rescue the boy however were unable to get to him due to the swift moving current officials said.

Upon arrival emergency personnel initiated CPR and the boy was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

He was not wearing a life jacket.

The New Hampshire Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death an accidental drowning.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification.
