Connecticut Leaders to Welcome Pope Francis

Leaders from Connecticut will be among the many people excitedly welcoming Pope Francis when he arrives in Washington, DC later today.

The Archbishop of the Hartford, Leonard Blair, will be among the leaders from the faith community welcoming Pope Francis to the United States at different events when he arrives Tuesday afternoon.

Gov.  Dannel Malloy has been invited to attend the official state welcome ceremony for Pope Francis on the South Lawn of the White House and will also attend the Papal mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

This is Francis’ first visit to the United States as Pope. He will spend time in Washington, DC, New York and Philadelphia.

More than 250 representatives from the Hartford diocese will travel to Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families and the Pope’s public outdoor mass on Sunday.
