Connecticut Man Sentenced to 180 Years for Triple Slaying

A Connecticut man has been sentenced to 180 years in prison for the bludgeoning deaths of his mother and two other people in what a prosecutor called a fit of hatred and rage.

Brett Bednarz was sentenced in Hartford Superior Court on Friday.

In January, a jury convicted Bednarz of three murder charges in the deaths of his mother, 74-year-old Beverly Therrien, and two house guests -- Michael Ramsey and Pamela Johns.

The bodies were found in Therrien's East Hartford home on Thanksgiving Day 2010.

Bednarz was sentenced to 60 years for each murder, to be served consecutively.

His first trial ended in a hung jury last year.

Prosecutors say Bednarz hated his mother and blamed her for his father's death.

Bednarz denied involvement and his lawyers said there was little evidence linking him to the crime scene.
