Connecticut Rock Climber Rescued from Upstate New York Cliff

A Connecticut woman has been rescued after she climbed up a cliff in upstate New York and couldn't get back down, authorities said.

The Schoharie County Sheriff's Office said 911 dispatchers received a call at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday from Nickerson Park Campground reporting that a woman was stuck on a cliff in the town of Gilboa, 38 miles southwest of Albany.

Deputies said the 34-year-old Milford, Connecticut, who was woman camping with her family, had climbed about 100 feet up the cliff and was unable to get down.

When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they realized a specialized rescue team was needed. The county's search-and-rescue team was called, and two members and a rescue basket were lowered to the woman.

She was placed in the basket and lowered to the ground. Her name hasn't been released.
