Three decades after two teenagers were convicted in the stabbing death of a 65-year-old New Milford man, the state Supreme Court is taking another look at the case.
Lawyers for Ralph "Ricky" Birch and Shawn Henning plan to argue this week that their clients had nothing to do with the murder of 65-year-old Everett Carr on Dec. 1, 1985.
They say forensic expert Henry Lee, who would later gain fame as a witness in the O.J. Simpson murder case, gave false testimony that blood had been found on a towel, a key piece of evidence in the case.
The lawyers also say that tests done years later turned up the DNA of another person at the bloody crime scene, but nothing linking either man to the murder.
The high court has scheduled arguments for Thursday and Friday.
