Convicted Felon Charged with Firearm, Drug Possession in Norwalk

Police in Norwalk arrested a convicted felon after a probation officer reported the suspect was carrying a gun, according to Norwalk police.

According to police, officers arrested 24-year-old Jonas Labaze after his probation officer called and reported that Labaze was in possession of a firearm. When officers approached Labaze, he reached toward his waistband. The officers grabbed Labaze and upon searching him they found a Ruger P95 9mm handgun in his waistband.

The gun was loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition, according to police.

Labaze is a convicted felon and thus prohibited from having firearms.

Officers also seized 59 bags of crack cocaine and $1336.

Labaze was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of large capacity magazine, and various narcotics possession charges.

He was held on a $50,000 bond and is due in court on July 26.
