A Naugatuck police officer is on paid administrative leave after investigators say he extorted more than $50,000 from a Wallingford woman.
Wallingford police arrested Officer David Reilly Wednesday. He was charged Thursday with first-degree larceny by extortion, third-degree computer crimes, and coercion.
Detectives handling the case aren't saying much, but they do say that the extortion started more than six years ago. Reilly was released on a $25,000 bond and is now the focus of an internal affairs investigation.
