Cop Nabbed in Twin Sex Switch

An Orange cop has been charged with criminal impersonation and sex assault for pretending to be his twin brother to have sex with a woman on July 19, police said.

The woman told police she was invited over to the Rohrig residence to meet with a man who she thought was Joe Rohrig, with whom she had been seeing since March.  Instead, it was Jared Rohrig that met her.  The two began to have sex.

The woman realized the man was Jared Rohrig, 25, of Milford, rather than his brother, when she noticed Jared did not have a tattoo on his buttocks.  She attempted to leave, police said. Then, she told police, Rohrig, restrained her and held her against her will, then sexually assaulted her.

After the alleged assault, the woman says Jared Rohrig took her home.  In the arrest affidavit, it says she asked Jared, "When did you think I was going to find out?  When I realized you didn't have a tattoo?  When we didn't use Joe's car to drive home?  Or when you didn't know how to get to my house because you've never been there?"

She said he replied, "I feel dumb.  I feel stupid.  You have every right to be upset."
On July 20, the woman went to emergency room of Milford Hospital for medical treatment for a sexual assault and hospital staff called police. She said she wanted to remain anonymous.

Two days later, she filed a complaint, reporting that she was sexually assaulted on July 19, at Rohrig’s home.

His bond was is $50,000 and he is due in court on Sept. 08.
