Cop “Relieved” Of Duty

A Massachusetts cop accused of taking a leak on a man and woman from Connecticut during a Metallica concert in January has been fired and heads to court in a couple weeks on some new charges.

Joseph Houston, 29, a then off-duty Brewster, Mass. cop, was at a Metallica concert concert on Jan. 18 at the TD BankNorth Garden in Boston when he allegedly exposed himself and urinated on a 17-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, both from unidentified Connecticut towns, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley.

Houston was apparently intoxicated, flashed his police badge and referring to a member of the MBTA Transit police who arrested him as “Obama,” according to a release from Conley’s office entitled "Officer Houston, We Have a Problem."

Houston has been canned from the police department and the pay checks are no longer coming, a Brewster selectman told the Cape Cod Times.

The charges against him include assault and battery and open and gross lewdness.  He heads back to court on April 8 for an arraignment. The charges come about two months after the rather unfortunate incident with the Metallica fans.

The alleged event caught the attention of rock magazines at the time, including Rolling Stone, whose reporter pontificated on what happened in Rock Daily.
