Cop Turned Teacher Gets A+

Former New York City police officer named Connecticut's 2009 Teacher of the Year

Anthony Mullen is a teacher at the ARCH School for at-risk and special needs teenagers in Greenwich.  He is now in the running for the National Teacher of the Year award, which will be announced in April at the White House by the president.

Mullen received the award Thursday at a ceremony.  He was praised for his dedication in helping some of Greenwich's most troubled students.

Mullen says working for the NYPD gave him plenty of chances to work with at-risk teens that need adult role models. He says he wants to be one of those role models.
