Cops: Angry Ex Planned to Blow Guy Up

Kevin Faircloth took being a scorned ex to new levels and was planning to blow up a man dating his ex-girlfriend, police said.

Police said the 39-year-old Waterbury man was planning on putting a rather primitive bomb in the new boyfriend's car.

It never got that far. A state police bomb squad took it from Faircloth's home and put and end to the contraption. Cops brought it to the dump and detonated it.

Faircloth did not actually put the bomb in the car, cops said.

The “bomb” probably would not have worked anyhow, police said. It was a crude combination of gunpowder and a steel cylinder.

Faircloth and his ex had some domestic issues, police told the Waterbury Republican-American, but they have no idea why he allegedly took things to possible explosive levels.

Faircloth was charged with bomb manufacturing and appeared in Waterbury Superior Court Monday. He’s being held on $250,000 bond.
