Man Accused of Kidnapping His Ex

Police said he was waiting in her closet with a knife.

A Stratford man was arrested on Monday morning, accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend and threatening to kill her in the woods of Easton.

When the victim, a Fairfield woman, came home from work, John Bajda, 28, of Stratford, was hiding in the closet of her Melville Drive bedroom with a kitchen knife, as her children, ages 7, 10 and 14, were sleeping, police said.

Bajda terrorized her, threatened to kill her and dragged her outside, pulling her by the hair, police said.

He forced the woman into his vehicle, locked the doors and told her he was going to take her to a wooded area in Easton and kill her, police said.

Bajda stopped at the intersection of Greenlawn and Melville drives long enough for the victim to esxape. run and contact a friend, who called police, police said.

Bajda returned to the scene after officers contacted him by phone and he was taken into custody.

He was charged with home invasion, first-degree burglary, second-degree threatening, first-degree kidnapping, third-degree assault, disorderly conduct and three counts of risk of injury to a minor.

He is being held on a $500,000 bond.
