Witnesses to a wild rampage in Stamford last month said Christopher Simonelli took a reckless ride down East Main Street, ramming more than a dozen people before striking a yellow school bus filled with students.
Following the spree that police said injured 22 people and damaged 14 cars, Simonelli, 30, of Stamford. was in critical condition.
On Wednesday, police arrested him and he will appear in court on Thursday.
Last month, police said they believe Simonelli intentionally struck the vehicles and said they were considered in it “an intentional criminal” case.
Svitlana Shevchuk was trying to make a turn when her minivan was hit from behind.
"He didn't try to even stop the car. The car drive like it crazy. It was unbelievable. It was very, very scary," Shevchuk said.
Then, Simonelli continued down East Main Street and hit a Toyota Corolla head-on, then hit another car, accelerated, jumped the curb onto the sidewalk and hit several parking meters and a garbage can, witnesses said.
Several Stamford High School students were on the bus that was struck and went to the hospital by ambulance and several others were taken by bus to be checked out.
