Cosby Show Comes Back to Connecticut

Comedian Will Raise Scholarship Money at Hartford Magnet School

Comedian and activist Bill Cosby is coming back to Connecticut to support education.

He will appear in Hartford on Friday night to help a magnet high school raise $100,000 for college scholarships for its students.

Capital Preparatory Magnet School raised $90,000 by mid-week and hopes to raise significantly more through the Cosby event.

The longtime actor and comedian is bringing some high-profile friends with him: Soledad O'Brien of CNN, former NBA star and current ESPN analyst Jalen Rose, and NFL Hall of Famer Franco Harris.

Capital Prep prides itself on a 100 percent acceptance rate for its seniors at four-year colleges.

The school's principal said many families can't afford the rising tuition without scholarships.

The Hartford Courant reports that it is sold out, but anyone who would like to donate to help the school can send a check, made payable to Capital Prep Scholarship Fund, to Sterling Berliant, Capital Prep Magnet School, 1304 Main St., Hartford, CT 06103.
