Police in Westport says a couple was awakened to a burglar in their own master bedroom.
Police received a call from the Westport home just before 2am about an individual that entered the home located on Manitou Road.
Police say the homeowners were asleep in the first floor master bedroom at the time when they were awakened by sounds outside their bedroom door when shortly after, the burglar entered the bedroom with a flashlight, startling the couple.
The burglar then fled from the home on foot entering the Longshore Golf Course which boarders the homeowners property.
Police say the owners of the home were not able to determine the gender or race but the suspect is described as 6'3", wearing a light colored Polo type shirt and dark colored pants.
Police are also investigating a vehicle that was seen shortly after the couple called police that slowly drove past the home.
Police tried to track the suspect by using a K-9 unit into the nearby golf course which ended near the Longshore Marina.

Area towns were notified of the burglary.
The incident is currently being investigated by the Westport Detective division.
