Fire Damages Vacant Store in Milford

A fire damaged a vacant store in Milford early Tuesday morning.

Dispatchers received a 911 call shortly before 3 a.m. from a passing motorist reporting a fire in a building at 1469 Boston Post Road, which used to be the Loading Dock Liquor Store.

When firefighters arrived, they found a large amount of smoke visible from the outside.

According to Milford fire officials, crews were concerned about the possibility of homeless people being trapped inside the building and began an aggressive search inside.

Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines into the building to tackle the fire, which extended to the roof of the building.

The fire was under control within approximately 40 minutes.
