Crews are investigating after a fire at an apartment complex in West Hartford on Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were called to the Westwood Condominiums at 100 Kane Street shortly before 3 a.m. after getting a report of an apartment fire.
The first crews at the scene found heavy fire showing from the third floor and additional firefighters were called in to assist, according to fire officials.
Firefighters fought the fire from the inside and quickly knocked down the bulk of it, experts added. Tenants from nearby apartments were evacuated so firefighters could make sure the fire hadn't extended.
All occupants of the apartment complex have been accounted for and no injuries were reported, according to firefighters.
Approximately eight to 10 apartments have been affected by smoke, water or fire, authorities said. In total, residents from around 40 units were displaced, either due to damage or because they don't have power. The Red Cross and West Hartford Social Services have been contacted to provide assistance.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. West Hartford and State fire officials spent the entire day investigating, at one point focusing in on a gas can, charred and melted, left on the front sidewalk.

West Hartford police also had a heavy prescence and did apply for and execute a search warrant at the property. It is unclear what the warrant was for and if anything was recovered.
A Connecticut State Police K9 team was also called in.
The West Hartford Fire Department tweeted that residents affected by the fire can get information on available services by visiting the Red Cross Comfort Center after 2 p.m. at the Elmwood Community Center. It's located at 1106 New Britain Ave. in West Hartford.
