1 Taken to Burn Unit After Hartford Fire

One person is being treated at the Bridgeport Hospital Burn Unit after fire broke out at a commercial building in Hartford on Friday morning.

Fire was reported at 395 Ledyard Street, a two-story commercial building, around 5 a.m. and firefighters found heavy fire when the arrived, according to a news release.

Crews had to take special precautions because of concerns over possible dangerous and flammable chemicals inside.

The fire was extinguished within minutes, according to the fire department, but one person who had been in the building suffered burns. 

The victim, identified only as a civilian, was taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital, then transferred to the burn unit. 

One firefighter was also transported because of a possible knee injury.

The fire marshal's office is investigating the fire.
