Cuts Possible for Rail Commuters

The Connecticut Rail Commuter Council will meet Wednesday night in Stamford to discuss possible rate hikes.

Planned service cuts and fare increases on Metro North and Shoreline East rail lines are on the agenda.

The MTA is facing a $1.2 billion budget gap.

State transportation officials said they are looking at eliminating off-peak trains to create the least disruption for riders.
