Police stopped said Mamerto Rodriguez, 41, on Interstate 84, just before exit 41.

A Hartford man was arrested in West Hartford on Sunday, accused of tossing marijuana and cocaine from his car when an officer stopped him for a turn signal violation.

Police stopped said Mamerto Rodriguez, 41, on Interstate 84, just before exit 41, after he got onto the highway at New Britain Avenue, police said.

Rodriquez’s 14-year-old son and a 15-year-old girl were also in the car, police said.

While stopping Rodriguez’s car, the officer saw him toss two bags of what appeared to be marijuana out of the car, according to the police report.

The officer retrieved the items and determined they were marijuana and cocaine.

Rodriguez was charged with illegal possession, two counts of risk of injury and impairing morals of minors, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, littering and the turn signal violation.

Bond was set at $50,000 and he will appear in court on April 2.
