A Danbury, Connecticut man has died in a weekend snowmobiling accident in Maine.
The Maine Warden Service identified the victim of Saturday's accident in Caratunk as Lars Otto, 46, of Danbury, Connecticut.
Lt. Kevin Adam said it appears as if Otto failed to negotiate a corner on Bald Mountain Loop Trail just before 1 p.m., causing his sled to overturn and roll on top of him. He was behind another snowmobiler who did not witness the crash.
Otto was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation, but Adam said alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
It was the second fatal snowmobile accident of the year in Maine.
