Daughter Uses iPod to Alert Police of Assault: Cops

Police said the father was assaulting the mother.

A girl used her iPod to alert Farmington police that her mom was being choked and needed help, police said.

Police said Shakeem Anderson, 37, of Farmington, choked and assaulted his wife in their Oakland Avenue home on Monday.

When she tried to call for help, Anderson disabled the telephone, but their daughter was able to send email messages to police by using her iPod, police said.

She Googled the department and her messages went to the chief and he alerted patrols, who were already there because the Anderson called 911, police said.

Anderson was charged with third-degree assault, strangulation and disorderly conduct. His wife was also charged with domestic violence.

Anderson posted bond and is due in court on Tuesday.

Last week, police responded to Oakland Avenue after pit bulls mauled a Chihuaua and said Shakeem Anderson would be charged with allowing a dog to roam, having unlicensed dogs and having nuisance dogs.
