Former Marine Threatened to Kill Mayor: Cops

62 year old Craig Copley arrested

Bridgeport police have arrested a former Marine accused of threatening to kill Mayor Bill Finch and City Council members this week.

Craig Copley, 62, was nabbed on Tuesday night after he allegedly told a state official in City Hall that he was there to kill Finch and everyone else inside the council chambers, the Connecticut Post reports.

Police said Copley took off without incident and was later caught nearby.

Police evacuated the council chambers and quarantined City Hall until Copley was in custody. Finch wasn't at the council meeting, but about 150 other people were.

Copley was detained on $10,000 bail on threatening and disorderly conduct charges. No word if he has a lawyer.

Two years ago, Copley was sentenced to a year of probation for harassment.

He is due in court on April 11, according to court records.
