Deceased Porn Legend Chambers Called CT Home

Investigators are still looking into the cause of death for Marilyn Chambers, the commercial actress turned adult film star, who died Sunday in Los Angeles. While she was famous in glitz town, Connecticut is where she grew up.

In Westport, people knew her as Marilyn Ann Briggs, a cheerleader and a 1970 graduate of Staples High School in Westport.

She became a pop culture phenomenon when she gave up work as a model advertising Ivory Snow laundry detergent to star in the X-rated “Behind the Green Door” in 1972.

"What I remember most in recent years is when she came to reunions and she was just happy to be there," Dan Woog told the Connecticut Post.

Woog, an author and boys soccer coach at Staples High School in Westport, attended Long Lots Junior High School and Staples with Chambers.

"She wasn't Marilyn Chambers, she was Marilyn Briggs. Everyone would be taking pictures with everyone else and of course the guys wanted pictures with her and the wives would look askance. … She was a cheerleader which was sort of a stereotype, but she was bright and funny. She wasn't wild, she wasn't crazy. She was a Westport kid with a lot of talents," he told the newspaper.

Briggs was born in Providence, R.I. and moved with her family to Westport as at an early age,  Westport Now reports.

Several years ago on a high school reunion Web site, Briggs posted “Haven’t been back to Westport in a long time, as I have no more family living there (both my mom and dad are deceased). ... My brother tells me he went to see our old house on Marc Lane, and they’ve turned it into a MacMansion! Egads, a whole town of Martha Stewarts is evolving!!  Would love to hear from old friends from the good old days,” WestportNow.com reports.
