Deliberations Set to Begin in Doctor Sex Assault Trial

A state jury is heard closing arguments today and is set to begin deliberations in the trial of a doctor accused of sexually assaulting female patients.

The prosecution and defense in the case of Tory Westbrook are set to present their summations Tuesday in Middletown Superior Court. Deliberations are expected to begin later in the day.

Westbrook, of Glastonbury, is accused of inappropriately touching more than a dozen female patients during exams at the Community Health Center in Clinton. He denies all the allegations. The current trial involves five of the patients, and other criminal cases remain pending.

Westbrook's lawyer, Norman Pattis, says his client will not take the witness stand.

The allegations led the state Medical Examining Board to suspend Westbrook's license to practice medicine last year.
