Route 44 in West Hartford Reopens After Crews Clear Downed Tree

Route 44 in West Hartford has reopened after a downed tree closed the road for several hours on Monday morning.

Officials said the tree took down power lines and landed across all four lanes of Albany Avenue, also known as Route 44, near Mountain Road. The road was closed in both directions for more than seven hours while crews worked to remove the tree.

The downed tree also caused more than 100 outages in West Hartford and Avon, according to Eversource. Eversource crews have restored power to the affected areas.
