Dozens of Cars Vandalized

The vandals used a BB gun and possibly a baseball bat, according to police.

Police in Bridgeport and Stratford are asking for the public’s help in identifying the vandals who shattered the windows of more than 100 cars overnight.

Investigators said the calls started coming in as early as 3 a.m. on Tuesday.

In Stratford, police fielded 40 calls by midday and Bridgeport reported twice that.

“I opened the shades in my bedroom and saw the driver’s door window was shattered,” said Bill Chonka.

Investigators believe most of the damage was done with a BB gun, but at least two witnesses reported seeing someone breaking glass with a baseball bat.

“You destroy people’s stuff?  They work hard for it, then you destroy it?  That's messed up,” said Kevin Eppes, a victim of the vandalism.

Workers at Safelite Auto Glass in Bridgeport had more business than they could handle.

“We have extra crews coming in tomorrow from other Safelite locations and they're going to help us.   We have about 50 vehicles we're going to be servicing”, said David Sanchez, manager at Safelite.

Police have made no arrests and they have no suspects.
