A driver was injured after crashing into a utility pole in Wilton early Sunday morning, causing wires to fall on his car.

John A. Light, 63, of Cranbury, New Jersey, was headed in the eastbound direction on Route 53 (Cedar Road) in Wilton when he lost control on a curvy part of the road, police said. He hit a curb as he veered off the paved road and collided with a utility pole. His car flipped and landed upside down on the roadway, just under 98 feet from the utility pole.

The road was closed as a result.

Weston firefighters responded and were still on scene as of 6:35 a.m. EMS personnel transported Light to Norwalk Hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
