One person is in the hospital after the car he or she was driving crashed into a tree in Westport this morning.
Fire officials said it happened around 10 a.m. outside 8 Bridge Street. Emergency responders arrived on scene to find a Toyota Highlander with heavy damage to the front. The driver was extricated and taken by ambulance to Norfolk Hospital, according to the fire department.
The driver has not been identified and the extent of injuries is unclear.
Westport police and fire officials responded to the accident. Traffic was diverted while authorities worked to clear the scene.
