Driver Killed in Middletown Dump Truck Crash

Dump truck rolled over on Washington Street Tuesday afternoon.

A 53-year-old Bethlehem man was killed in a crash in Middletown just after 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Charles Marshall was driving east on Washington Street when a 2002 Jaguar driven by Jane Opalacz, 92, of Middletown, traveled north on Camp Street and crossed Washington Street, police said.

After the Kenworth dump truck and Jaguar collided, the truck went off the road and down an embankment, police said. 

Marshall was pronounced dead at the scene. Opalacz was not hurt.

On Tuesday, police said the truck was traveling downhill on Washington Street around 1:30 p.m. when it ran a red light at George Street, collided with a car, and flipped over.

The dump truck ended up in a parking lot in a plaza at 955 Washington Street..

George Street was closed for a few hours while police responded.

Police continue to investigate.
