“East Coast Rapist” Indicted in Maryland

Aaron Thomas, of New Haven, has been linked to attacks from Virginia to Rhode Island.

A Connecticut man already serving life sentences for a series of rapes and sex crimes has been indicted in Maryland.

Prince George's County prosecutors announced Tuesday that Aaron Thomas, of New Haven, has been indicted on six counts of first-degree rape and related charges.

Thomas, whom authorities have dubbed the "East Coast Rapist," was sentenced in Virginia this month to multiple life terms. He's been linked to attacks in Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

The new indictment stems from sexual assaults in the county that authorities have linked to Thomas. He's scheduled for arraignment on April 12.

Prince George's County State's Attorney Angela Alsobrooks says that although Thomas will already spend his life in prison, it's still important that he be prosecuted and that his six accusers in the county receive justice.
