Ex-Bush Lawyer Gets Mental Health Treatment

A former White House attorney accused of trying to kill his wife at their New Canaan home has posted bail and is being treated at a mental health hospital.

John Michael Farren, 57, who worked in both Bush administrations, posted $750,000 bail on Monday and was sent to the Institute of Living in Hartford.

After going through treatment, he will live at a relative's home in West Hartford under house arrest.

Farren has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and other charges.

Police say he beat Mary Farren in their home in January after she filed for divorce.
