Ex-Governor John Rowland Transferred to Halfway House

Former Connecticut governor John Rowland was transferred from prison to a halfway house, officials said.

Rowland was twice convicted on felony charges and was set to be released early from a federal minimum-security prison in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, it was announced in October.

He was released from the federal prison on Tuesday and moved to a halfway house. However, the location is unknown.

The 60-year-old Republican resigned from office in 2004 and served 10 months in prison following a corruption scandal. Rowland was sentenced to prison again in September 2014 after he was convicted of campaign fraud, conspiracy and obstruction of justice.

In September 2016, Rowland began to serve his 2 1/2 year sentence
