Ex-Scout Leader Faces Child Abuse Charges in Massachusetts

A former leader of a Connecticut Boy Scout troop has been charged with sexually molesting three boys while on scouting trips to Massachusetts in the 1990s.

David Kress, of Thompson, Connecticut, was held on $50,000 bail after pleading not guilty Thursday in Worcester Superior Court to seven counts of statutory child rape.

Police tell The Telegram & Gazette the alleged assaults took place at Nichols College in Dudley.

Massachusetts prosecutors say Kress is out on bail for similar allegations in Connecticut.

Prosecutors asked that Kress be held on $100,000 bail because they had trouble finding him.

Kress' attorney asked for $10,000 bail, saying her client is a Marine veteran who was in a hospital for stress and anxiety-related issues. She says he has strong family ties to New England.
