Fairfield Aide Accused of Dragging Student: School System

A Fairfield paraprofessional has been charged with second-degree unlawful restraint and disorderly conduct after allegedly dragging a student down the high school hallway in May, according to the police department.

A spokesperson for Fairfield Public Schools said 24-year-old John Nuzzolo, of Oxford, was placed on paid administrative leave when the administration at Fairfield Ludlowe High School learned of the allegations. He resigned from his post shortly thereafter.

Nuzzolo is accused of grabbing the backpack of a teenage high school student and dragging her about 30 feet down the hallway on May 29, according to Deputy Chief Chris Lyddy of the Fairfield Police Department.

Lyddy said a conversation had transpired between Nuzzolo and the teen prior to the incident, which didn't make sense to the girl. She resisted when he began dragging her, and eventually he stopped and walked away.

Several other members of the school community watched the situation unfold, Lyddy said.

He was released on $5,000 bond and is due in court Aug. 25.
